Nigerian-born striker Imoh Ezekiel could be on his way out
of Standard Liege before the start of the 2013/14 season following reports
linking him with a move to French club Lille.
According to a report in the weekend edition of La Voix du
Nord, a French regional paper, Lille are desperately in need of reinforcement in
their forward line following a poor season that saw them fail to qualify for Europe,
and have commenced negotiations with Imoh’s agents.
The 20-year-old had an impressive campaign with the Belgian
Pro League outfit last season grabbing an impressive 16 goals in 33 appearances
for the side that once had the trio of former Nigerian internationals Sunday
Oliseh, Alloy Agu and Victor Ikpeba on its books back in the 1992/93 season.
Lille are not the only club keen on securing the services of
Ezekiel as the report also revealed that a host of clubs from Belgium, Ukraine
and Russia are also interested in the young Nigerian.
Italian website, tuttomercatoweb.com, however reports that
the Nigerian’s representatives appear to favour a move to the French Ligue 1 to
further aid the development of the youngster, who last season caught the interest
of Serie A side Fiorentina who, according to the Italian website, could yet
make a move for the Nigerian.
